Selected units from AUR20720 Certificate II in Automotive Vocational Preparation
This course is ideal for students wishing to pursue a career in Automotive – General studies. The course is designed to provide students with basic skills and knowledge to become an automotive mechanic while studying at a secondary school level.
Please note this is a one-year program. Students will receive a Statement of Attainment.

Additional Requirements/Information
Students are required to wear long-sleeved overalls, leather upper boots and safety glasses.
Program Content
Sample competencies covered include:
- Clean vehicles
- Use and maintain tools and equipment in an automotive workplace
- Identify automotive electrical systems and components
Career opportunities
- Light vehicle motor mechanic
- Vehicle serviceperson
- Spare parts dealer
Work placement
Work placement is not required.
Contribution to VCE/VCAL/Vocational Major
VCE/VCAL/VM: Units completed may contribute hours toward a student’s secondary studies.
Students complete selected units which can provide credit toward further studies in the Certificate II in Automotive Vocational Preparation.
