Certificate III in Equine Studies
This program is designed to give horse enthusiasts an introduction to the equine industry. Students will gain essential communication skills, learn to work effectively in the industry and receive an introduction to occupational health and safety procedures. Students will develop horse riding skills, learn to monitor and care for horses, and determine nutritional requirements for a range of horses.

- Have some basic knowledge and experience with horses
- Are practical, patient and methodical
- Are physically fit and not allergic to horses
Additional Requirements/Information
Students are required to:
- Have a current tetanus vaccination
- Have a current Ambulance Cover
- Students will be required to provide their own helmets, boots and riding pants for practical days.
Please note: Students are required to attend full practical training days, six times in the first year and three times in the second. City Campus students will need to attend the Elgar Campus for these training days.

Contribution to VCE/VCAL/Vocational Major
VCE/VCAL/VM: Students may be eligible to receive recognition of up to four units of credit at the Units 1 & 2 level and a VCE VET Units 3 & 4 sequence.
ATAR: Students wishing to receive an ATAR contribution for the Units 3 & 4 sequence of VCE VET Equine Studies must undertake scored assessment for the purpose of achieving a study score. This study score can contribute directly to the ATAR, either as one of the student’s best four studies (the primary four) or as a fifth or sixth study. VCAL and the VCE Vocational Major do not contribute towards an ATAR.
